Video: Ken Robinson: How to Escape Education's Death Valley

In this entertaining but a serious talk, Ken Robinson outlines 3 principles crucial for the human mind to flourish.

(1) Diversity: Human beings are naturally different and diverse. To develop children to the their fullest potential, a real education has to give equal weight to the science, maths, arts, physical education, and more.

(2) Curiosity: Children are born naturally to be curious and learn best when we spark their curiosity. Our current educational system stifles curiosity due to the focus on standardized testing and 'one-size-fits-all' type of education delivery. The role of a teacher is to facilitate learning and not simply to 'deliver' education.

(3) Creativity: Human life is inherently creative. We create our own lives through the restless process of imagination and creativity. The role of education is to awaken and develop these powers of creativity.

This is a great talk if you are serious about the skills that will be needed to compete at a global level. The current educational system of delivering and receiving education won't cut it.
